Teen Told to Remove Anti-Abortion T-Shirt in School

Sorry haven't been able to blog for a long while but now I have a little time so here goes:

On CFRB's The Motts Show husband and wife team Paul & Carol Mott, among their topics were talking about a teen in a high-school(not exactly sure where) who was told to not wear his abortion(or should I say anti-abortion?) t-shirt.

On the front it said "stop killing my generation" and on the back it read "God says 'Thou Shalt Not Kill.'"

The teen was told by the principal to wear something else or wear that t-shirt inside out. He refused to listen.

A few weeks later his mother took the school to court and the court sided with the teen.

Though my personal belief is along the lines of what was written on the t-shirt I think the judge made a very big error by saying the teenager has a right to wear that t-shirt to school.

Here's why: Because when he goes into the workforce where the employees have to wear the same uniform is he going to go to court so he can wear the t-shirt of his choosing? Where do we draw the line? What kind of precedent are we setting? For anyone in any school and workplace to wear what they want? To not listen to the policy of the school and workplace so "if I don't like what they want me to wear I can take them to court knowing I'm getting my way."

And now what if another student wants to wear a "Don't Vote for Sarah Palin because women don't know politics" t-shirt or, "Don't Vote for Barack Obama because whites are better politicians" or a Hooters Restaurant t-shirt or some raunchy t-shirt or a girl in school wants to wear a t-shirt as in the image above)?

No? But "what about my right to wear what I want too?" will be the argument. I mention this to prove a point(the judge was wrong allowing the abortion t-shirt for the "my rights too" argument for this very reason). I can just see it happening sooner or later. p.s. by the way I have nothing against Palin or Obama but mention it to prove a point.

That Canadian Guy, Glen Foster

Many people including one of my nephews are celebrating a birthday today but this isn't about birthdays or nephews for that matter.

It's also Glen Foster's birthday, he's from Oakville, Ontario and he's better known as "That Canadian Guy" so here's one of my favourite videos from his stand-up. This is

Patrick Dempsey Apologizes to Hilary Clinton

So actor Patrick Dempsey of Grey's Anatomy has apologized to Hilary Clinton because he made fun at her expense in the movie Made of Honor. She's a a fan of his and he felt bad. While nice he apologized I can't help but wonder if Mr. Dempsey from now on is going to apologize to everyone he made fun of in the past or makes fun of in the future in any movie he's in.

If not, why not? I write this to prove a point: There's a time and place to apologize and this is not one of them. Hilary Clinton doesn't deserve an apology and Patrick Dempsey never should have apologized to her.

Stephen Harper to Get Tough on Youth Crime

NOW Prime Minister Stephen Harper promises to take action and change the law in regards to youth criminals. Harper says anyone 14 or older will serve a life sentence if necessary and their names will be allowed to be published(at the moment names of underage criminals aren't allowed to be mentioned by media).

While all that sounds good it's obviously an election ploy. While not a Conservative follower as you well know by now, I actually would have seriously considered voting for the Conservatives this month. That is if Stephen Harper had enacted this legislation shortly after he was voted into office last time.

Due to this being an election tactic it's another reason Harper and the Conservatives won't get my vote. I don't vote for parties and the people running for that party if the party is in power and they make promises during an election year for things they could have changed long ago.

Mosquito Bites? Try Lanacane(No, I'm Not Getting Paid to Say This--Though I Should Be)

The last couple of years I've been very lucky in getting just one or two mosquito bites. Not this year. OUCH! They're all over. The worst part as anyone who's had them knows is it itches and you can't scratch. So for the first time ever I tried Lanacane which claimed it helps the itching. I didn't believe it but it works(oh God help me! I sound like a commercial).

Another Trip to Hooters!

DAMN! Recently I bought a Hooters Watch. Yes folks Hooters also sells watches(what don't they sell?). It doesn't work, and actually I'm not that upset by it surprisingly. And no, doesn't run on batteries. Guess that means I have to make another trip to Hooters(big smile on my face!). Well you've gotta do whatcha gotto do!!!

American Educator's Wrong!--Homework is NOT Harmful!

Earlier in the week in the Toronto Star, due to an American educator saying that homework is harmful to children the Star was asking if people think homework indeed is harmful.

While I don't know what the results are yet, and haven't been able to find the story to read up more about this, though it's been many years I've been out of school I disagree!

If a student has lots of homework that interferes with his or her personal life, harmful in that way but if the American educator(what's his/her name?)means that any homework, no matter the amount of homework then I beg to differ.

It gets the student in the habit of reading(hopefully books in this computer era)and learning a thing or two about the subject they have to study.

I Want to Vote for Green Party...But Liberals Are in the Way--or Are They?

(this image courtesy of SteveJanke.com)

Hmmm?? As someone who wants to vote in this upcoming federal election(October 14th), I want to vote for the Green Party. Due to one of their platforms being "if you're forced to quit your job you can collect EI while looking for another job."

Due to my former job where I wanted to quit so badly but knew I wouldn't be able to collect any EI(Employment Insurance)while searching for another job I stayed at a job where I was miserable and dreaded going to work literally every day.

Though I'm at a much better job now with much better people in all positions from top to bottom I still like the Green Party's platform and why I want to vote for them.

The only problem is at one time, and not just recently, there was talk that The Green Party of Canada is associated with the federal Liberals.

I've been trying to find out if that's true or not as I have refused to vote Liberal since the Jean Chretien days and I assure you I will never vote Liberal again as long as I live. I'm a voter who never and I do mean NEVER forgets!

The problem I have with the Liberals is I was(and still am)very serious about opening my own t-shirt business or food store(preferably both). Knowing the banks weren't going to help me get the much-needed money I went to the EI office to apply for their Small Business Assistance Program but I don't qualify because I work. No joke! I'm not making this up! To qualify you must be an unemployed lazy-ass person collecting taxpayers money(EI)that you don't pay into the system.

Jean Chretien, and later on Paul Martin, both ignored my letters/emails to them and neither one replied to me though I was very polite in the letter(to Chretien) and email(to Martin) asking them to reconsider the rule so people such as myself who work, and pay into EI, can qualify by using some if not all of the EI money we pay into, for start-up for a new business.

Ever since I've refused to vote Liberal. I voted for them often. I also voted Conservative once(I even emailed Stephen Harper's office on this issue when he became Prime Minister and received a reply giving me the impression something would be done but the rule hasn't been changed and why I won't vote Conservative) and even for the NDP I voted once. Now I want to see what the Green Party will do for us(if enough people vote them in giving them a chance).

But before I definitely vote for The Green Party I want to know, are they associated with the federal Liberals in any way, shape or form whatsoever? So my dilemma is if Green Party and Liberals are in cahoots, then who do I vote for?
